Promoting solidarity in our society: people who volunteer to help others have always had a high priority at the AWO (Workers' Welfare Association Hamburg). Since its foundation more than 100 years ago until today, volunteering has been an important pillar for many of the AWO's offerings.
AWO Hamburg offers a wide range of opportunities for volunteering. Whether as an excursion companion in the daycare center, as support for young people or as a helper or leader in the AWO senior citizen meetings - this commitment is welcome and needed in many places.

Participation, volunteering, commitment - the Bergedorf district office supports voluntary commitment in Bergedorf with advice, contacts and money. The engagement fund offers simple support for smaller projects.
Visit WebsiteWe are looking for people who would like to make Bergedorf a little better with their idea. Above all, we would like to inspire older people over the age of 50 to volunteer. We are convinced that they can contribute a lot to a good community. To make volunteering easy, we offer rooms, advice and training, for example. At the KörberHaus, volunteers can offer their help to others free of charge. We provide support to ensure that this help is successful. Founded in 2012 by the people of Bergedorf, STEB - Stiftung für Engagement in Hamburg-Bergedorf (Foundation for Commitment in Bergedorf) -promotes and shapes the diversity of opportunities to get involved in our district; it concerns individual offers to get involved, a volunteer agency and a funding source that provides financial support for local charitable projects. Open space (Frei Raum)
For voluntary engagement!
Would you like to stand up for others? Do you have an idea for good coexistence in Bergedorf? Are you looking for fellow participants for your project? Do you need a place where you can develop your idea for more community and network?
Good things are created where people come together and work together. The Open Space offers 50 square metres of meeting space and opportunities for committed people in Bergedorf. Open to anyone who wants to take responsibility and make Bergedorf a better place.
The Open Space can be used free of charge and without registration. It is always open during the opening hours of the KörberHaus: Monday to Saturday from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Do your voluntary ideas need a productive place to unfold? Social projects and non-organised initiatives can book the Open Space for their activities independently. To do this, enter your name and your project in the weekly room schedule at the Open Space for your desired period!
The Open Space can be used flexibly thanks to the variable furniture. Individual work on your own laptop, sketching ideas on the whiteboard, project meetings at the high table, workshops in small seating groups, presentations for a larger audience – the equipment in the room can be used independently and responsibly for different requirements.
